Lake-effect snow will continue off of Lake Erie for the next 24-hours. Another band is headed for Lackawanna, West Seneca, Elma, Alden, Lancaster, and Cheektowaga.
The band that’s currently over the Southtowns is expected to shift into the suburbs Thursday afternoon. National Weather Service Meteorologist David Zaff says in the heart of the band some areas could see over 3 inches per hour. He says however, relief from the storm is on its way.
“We can guarantee that this storm will eventually drift back to the South later this evening and mostly affect the Southern Tier. After it does that it will be pretty much an end event,” said Zaff.
A lake-effect snow warning is in effect until 1 a.m. Friday for Erie, Genesee and Wyoming Counties. It’s also in effect until noon Friday for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties.
Hamburg, East Aurora, and Angola areas are expected to be hit the worst overnight, bringing the snow totals up to 2 to 3 feet.
