The Bed Bath and Beyond retail chain has announced it will be closing as many as 40 of its more than 900 stores across the country in the first half of this year.
One of them is the Union Consumer Square location in Cheektowaga.
In a statement, the company said it has provided a multi-million-dollar investment into over 150 of its highest performing stores nationally, and they continue to spend money to update their stores and online presence for web shoppers.
There are still four Bed Bath and Beyond locations open in Western New York: in Buffalo, Amherst, Hamburg and Niagara Falls.
