Last Buffalo-area Kmart closing in December

Google Maps

The last Kmart retail store in metro Buffalo will be closing its doors in December.

The company has included the 1001 Hertel Avenue location on its latest list of store closings.

A list of nearly 100 Sears and Kmart stores slated for closure has been circulated by an anonymous former employee and was printed in USA Today.

A Kmart store at 975 Fairmount Avenue in Jamestown is likely to be shut down by Halloween and that, along with the Hertel Avenue store closing, will leave only one store in the eight-county Western New York region, in Wellsville.

About 380 Sears and Kmart locations remained across the country as of early August, when the Jamestown store was on a list of about 25 pending closures.
