Chautauqua Institution announces summer concert lineup

R&B legend Smokey Robinson closes the 2021 summer concert lineup at the Chautauqua Institution.

The Chautauqua Institution has announced its 2021 Amphitheater concert line up with someone for everyone.

The concert series kicks off on June 26 with a performance from renowned mandolinist Chris Thile and continues with big names in all music genres.

Highlights include a performance of Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, comedians Lewis Black and Bill Engvall, big band crooning with Harry Connick Jr. and Rodney Marsalis, and country singers Jason Isbell and Wyonna Judd. The series closes on Aug. 28 with a performance by R&B legend Smokey Robinson.

You can find the full concert series on the institution's website. Opera, dance and theater are among the summer offerings, as well.

The 4,400-seat open-air Chautauqua Amphitheater will be operating at 80% capacity for most shows with most seating reserved for vaccinated guests. Some concerts will operate at 100% capacity with all seats reserved for vaccinated guests.
