The United States Coast Guard has announced that it has deployed USCGC Bristol Bay (WTGB-102) to assist the lake freighter Manitoulin, which is currently stuck in the ice just outside of the Buffalo River break wall. The Manitoulin has been stuck since 11:43 am Wednesday, after unloading wheat.

The online retail giant, Amazon, has announced the closing of all its warehouses in Quebec. The company says the move is part of a reorganization and a cost-cutting measure. One Amazon spokesperson says it has nothing to do with the unionization of a couple of hundred employees in Laval, Quebec, last spring.

Colorado-based H5 Data Centers paid $49 million for Yahoo’s 43-acre, eight-data center, 409,000-square-foot complex that anchors the Town of Lockport Industrial Park. Besides the sale price - one of the largest private sector-backed deals in recent Lockport history - the deal guarantees Yahoo’s presence in the region for at least the next five years.
