A Buffalo man has been sentenced for a 2020 shooting on the Kensington Expressway.

In Erie County Court Wednesday, Timothy Eatmon Jr., 31, was sentenced to 12 years followed by three years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty in June to all counts in an indictment against him.

Eatmon faced felony counts of attempted murder and assault, plus two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The charges came from an incident during the early morning hours of Feb. 1 of last year. Eatmon was driving inbound on the Kensington when he shot a backseat passenger several times with an illegal firearm with the intent to cause death.

The victim tried to grab the gun and was able to escape the vehicle as it slowed down. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center by a passing motorist who saw him injured on the highway. The victim was hospitalized for several days, but survived the shooting.
