2-vehicle crash results in Leandra's Law arrest

Erie County Sheriff deputies responded to a two-vehicle, head-on crash on South Newstead Road in Newstead Thursday morning, leading to a Leandra's Law arrest.

Deputies say a vehicle operated by 42-year-old Greg Morrison of Akron crossed over the double-yellow line and struck an oncoming vehicle. No major injuries were reported.

However, during an evaluation, deputies say they discovered Morrison had suboxone strips - an opioid medication - and was impaired by drugs. He was arrested.

Morrison also had a twelve-year-old passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident, promoting deputies to add a felony Leandra’s Law charge and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

He is being held at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in Newstead Town Court.
