Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane was handcuffed by Buffalo Police late Friday morning and is facing charges for an alleged confrontation at a downtown bar last month.
Kane, 24, voluntarily turned himself in around 11 a.m. outside Buffalo Police Central Booking. He is facing charges relating to altercations he allegedly had at the Bottoms Up bar on Chippewa Street on the morning of June 24.
"He was booked and processed on four counts of violation harassment, one violation of disorderly conduct and one criminal trespass, which is a B misdemeanor charge," said Chief Joseph Gramaglia of Buffalo Police Downtown Central B District.
Kane reportedly had an encounter with four people - three women and a bouncer - at that bar. Gramaglia explained that the case began with two complainants but as the investigation continued a total of four people came forward.
"The allegations that are made are grabbing complainants by the neck, by the hair or by the arms," said Gramaglia, who added that none of the accusers suffered injuries.
Kane was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Buffalo City Court on August 1.
Earlier this year, Kane was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in a sexual encounter he had with a woman he met at another downtown bar.
The Buffalo Sabres issued the following statement: “We are aware of the charges against Evander Kane stemming from an incident last month. Our organization will have no further comment at this time.”
