No more late-night runs to three area Wegmans

Wegmans

Three area Wegmans will be closing overnights.

Management at the Rochester-based supermarket chain say the stores at 1577 Military Rd. in Niagara Falls, 675 Alberta Dr. in Amherst and 601 Amherst St. near Elmwood Avenue will be closed from midnight to 6 a.m.

The reason is to make employee assignments more efficient, by placing them when there are many more shoppers. The overnight Wegmans closings will take effect March 4.

Meanwhile, Wegmans has again been selected to Fortune magazine'slist of 100 Best Companies to Work For 2018. It is the 21st time the company has made the list - every year of the list - finishing in second place for the second year in a row.

Mark Wozniak, WBFO's local All Things Considered host, has been at WBFO since mid-1978.
