Sabres apparel is hot, Eichel jerseys on hold

The Sabres anticipation and finally signing of Jack Eichel appears to be boosting sales of Sabres apparel. Laux Sporting Goods District Manager Michael O'Hara says Sabres gear has been hot for about a month now.

"People are purchasing t-shirts, hats, accessories," notes O'Hara. "They're also purchasing jerseys of other players."

The big question, though, is what number will Eichel be wearing?  O'Hara says once we know that, Eichel jerseys will take 3-4 days to hit Laux stores.

"We are in the process of getting his jerseys lettered," says O'Hara. "The only thing we don't know is his number, so we are stitching on his last name on the jersey until we find out what his number is. We also have t-shirts that are going to be made from our vendor and again, they have to wait to see what his number is going to be.... I think it's going to be pretty hot."

"The buzz is tremendous. I haven't seen anything like this since the 2006-2007 season. That was the (Daniel) Briere/(Chris) Drury years, when they started the season off with 10 straight wins."

O'Hara says he's been in the sporting good business for 40 years and he can just feel the excitement surrounding the team now.
