The final steel beam was put in place Friday morning for a major mixed-use complex in the heart of downtown Buffalo. The $110 million 250 Delaware building, at the corner of Delaware Avenue and Chippewa Street, is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2015. Once finished, it will house the new global headquarters for hospitality giant Delaware North Companies, as well as a hotel, retail and office space, and a 600-car parking ramp.

Delaware North President and Chief Operating Officer Charles Moran says he has enjoyed watching the massive structure being built.

"I get a bird's eye view from my office of the construction that's been going on and it's a lot of fun every day to see the progress. I can't believe how quickly it's come about," Moran said at a news conference late Friday morning.

A 20-foot-long steel beam was raised onto the roof for the traditional "topping off" ceremony Friday to mark to completion of the steel structure.

"The next phase of the project is to put the skin on the building and also to do the work inside, which includes the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, walls, flooring, and the thousands of details that go into building a building like this," said Uniland Development Vice President Michael Montante.

More than 3,000 tons of structural steel have been installed for the 12-story, 300,000 square foot project over the past three months.
