Gov. Kathy Hochul's office has announced that Canadian-issued digital COVID-19 vaccination credentials that adhere to New York's SMART Health Care specifications are now being accepted through the state's Excelsior Pass Scanner applications.

This means that fully vaccinated Canadians can use their acceptable credentials for business entry into New York.

The U.S. opened the border to fully vaccinated Canadians last week, three months after Canada approved passage in the other direction.

In early October, the Excelsior Pass Scanner was updated to enable the validation of other passes that meet federal and state public health standards.
