New York state’s COVID-19 positivity rate dropped to 1.49% on Saturday, dropping below 1.5% for the first time since Oct. 28.
Western New York had a 7-day average positivity rate of 3.38% -- still the highest in the state -- while the statewide 7-day average positivity rate was at 1.84%.
The 7-day average positivity rate in the Finger Lakes Region reported on Sunday stood at 2.81%. That was the second highest level in the state.
The percentage of New Yorkers who have had at least one vaccine dose is 46.5%, while the percentage of New Yorkers with the completed vaccine series is 34.9%.
"Our progress in beating back this virus has allowed us to slowly reopen our state and, if more people get vaccinated and the overall metrics continue to move in the right direction, we are optimistic that we can stay on this trajectory," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a statement Sunday. "We cannot afford to get cocky, nor can we get lax in our vaccination efforts.”
