Jeb Bush appears at Buffalo campaign fundraiser

Michael Mroziak, WBFO

Jeb Bush, one of more than a dozen Republican presidential hopefuls, appeared in Buffalo Tuesday morning for a campaign fundraiser.

Guests paid a reported $2,700 per person to attend the breakfast, hosted inside the Rich Renaissance Atrium on Niagara Street. Security was tight, keeping local news media on the sidewalk. As Bush arrived for the event, he was taken immediately to a rear entrance.

No guests commented upon the conclusion of the event. Bush himself was quickly whisked away in a vehicle, telling reporters in passing, "it was a great visit."

Published reports indicate another fundraiser is forthcoming later this summer for rival GOP candidate Marco Rubio. That fundraiser is expected to be hosted by local businessman Anthony Gioia, who previously raised funds for Bush's brother, former president George W. Bush.

During the Bush administration, Gioia was named U.S. Ambassador to Malta, the tiny island nation located about 50 miles due south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea.
