Sen. Marco Rubio meets with supporters in WNY

photo from Sen. Rubio website

Senator Marco Rubio apparently raised a lot of money yesterday for his "Reclaim America" political action committee during a visit to the region Sunday.

The Florida senator and presumed 2016 presidential candidate made two stops during a visit here. The first was to Ralph Wilson Stadium where his hometown team, the Miami Dolphins, lost to the Buffalo Bills.

The second stop appears to have more enjoyable. He was a guest at the East Aurora estate of Delaware North executive Jerry Jacobs Junior.

Rubio had nothing to say to reporters who were there for his arrival. The event was sponsored by the Jacobs family and other businessmen Anthony Gioia, Patrick Lee and Mark Hamister. The event cost $1,000 apiece for the cocktail party and $2,500 each for the dinner.

The main sponsors of this event are actively involved in political fund-raising. Gioia's home near Delaware Park was used in 2008 to raise a million dollars for presidential candidate John McCain; two-years ago, more was likely raised for Mitt Romney.

On Wednesday, Governor Cuomo also held a fundraiser at the Jacobs' estate.
