Paladino drops bid to woo Trump, will support Astorino

Buffalo businessman Carl Paladino is now throwing his full support behind Republican gubernatorial Rob Astorino.
Paladino says Astorino, the Westchester County Executive, would make a "great governor."  But the outspoken developer and Buffalo school board member says Astorino will only win if he appeals to the party's conservative base.

Trump decided in March not to challenge Governor Andrew Cuomo this year.  But that didn't stop Paladino from continuing to woo the billionaire businessman.  Now, Paladino says he would drop those efforts.  He says Astorino convinced him that calling for Trump to enter the race was not helping.

Paladino says Astorino must rally conservatives by denouncing Republican leaders who he says have capitulated to Democrats.

Paladino lost to Cuomo in 2010.
