'The Donald' coming to Buffalo

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump will be making a visit to Buffalo in a couple of weeks for an event hosted by theErie County Republican Committee.

Local GOP chairman Nick Langworthy issued the invitation for the 2014 Lincoln Leadership Reception featuring Trump.

The event will be held Friday, January 31 at Salvatore's Italian Gardens from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

"We're honored that he has chosen his first stop Upstate to be Buffalo, New York," Langworthy told WBFO News.

Trump has indicated he might run for New York State Governor if Republicans unite around him. Leaders of the state Republican party have been urging Trump to run against incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo.

"I suppose we've kind of become the epicenter of republican politics in the state," said Langworthy. "It makes sense for him to come here."

The local GOP event includes a VIP reception with 'The Donald' costing $500  per couple that will include a photo opportunity with the celebrity mogul. For others attending the reception, the cost is $100 per person, $175 per couple and $75 for county committee members.

"They understand that the Republican party means business in Erie County. We're usually the first stop in anyone's travels as they consider at statewide candidacy," said Langworthy.
