Small plane crashes in Genesee County

Spectrum News

Four people suffered what are believed to be minor injuries after a small plane crashed Sunday afternoon at the Le Roy Airport.

That is according to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department, which said the single-engine Beechcraft apparently had trouble on takeoff and struck an earth embankment. The plane came to rest in an open grass area, with a lot of damage to the plane.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The FAA has joined the investigation.

The four people on board included the pilot, John Yates, 48, of Canandaigua, his wife and two children. All four were able to get out of the plane on their own and were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
