Second case of Halloween candy tampering reported

There has been another reported case of Halloween candy tampering, this time in Hamburg. Earlier this week, residents in parts of Clarence and Amherst were issued an alert after a metal pin was found in a mini Nestle Crunch bar. Now, Hamburg Police say they are investigating after a resident reported a sewing needle or nail-like object found in a piece of banana-flavored Laffy Taffy candy.

It is believed the candy was handed out in the Pine Lakes subdivision in Lakeview. Parents whose children went trick-of-treating in that area are being asked to check their Halloween candy.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hamburg Police Detective Howard Widman at 649-3800, Ext. 2603.
