DA candidates take contentious race to debate stage tonight

ECDA facebook page

While much of the pre-Election Day hype has been centered around the Presidential race, the campaign for Erie County District Attorney has also featured controversy and harsh words.  The four candidates will face each other at tonight's debate the Burchfield Penney Art Center.

The event is being promoted as a debate of "criminal justice issues,"  but the hotly-contested race has been heavy on political rhetoric. Some have lodged accusations of opposing campaigns resorting to dirty tricks, including push polling.

Audience members will be able to hear for themselves from the four candidates. On hand will be three Democrats: acting District Attorney Michael Flaherty, endorsed Democrat John Flynn and former assistant District Attorney Mark Sacha. Also, Conservative Joseph Treanor III, the endorsed Republican candidate, will be present.

The event sponsored by the Buffalo Association of Black Journalists and the Buffalo State Communications Department starts at 7pm. Audience members will be allowed to submit questions.
