A hazmat situation on Kenmore Avenue has sent two people to the hospital on Saturday.

A 7-eleven in the Town of Tonawanda is said to have had a refrigerant leak. A fire chief on location said they were told two people in the store were unconscious when the initial call came through. The two individuals were taken to Erie County Medical Center to be treated.

The store has been evacuated while fire crews and police check the scene. Kenmore Avenue was closed between Truesdale Road and Starin Avenue.

An investigation is in progress. The store will not reopen until Monday.
