More than 200,000 area residents are still under a boil water advisory due to a water main break earlier this week. The towns of Amherst, Clarence, Lancaster, Newstead, Pembroke, Darien and parts of Cheektowaga are all affected. Boiling water for at least one minute is recommended before use. Testing has thus far shown no bacteria in the water, but more testing is required before the advisory can be lifted.

It is thought that the situation could get back to normal as early as later today.
