One of Elmwood Avenue's popular eateries has closed its doors. The Blue Monk held a party on its final night, and some prized bottles of beer from the collection of owner Mike Shatzel were a part of the festivities. Shatzel decided to shutter the popular business when a lease agreement with the landlord became unreachable.
He states that he will open a similar business in a different location. However, there are plenty of other local eateries with the Shatzel imprint. He most recently bought Colter Bay Grill and Shatzel is a partner or owner in Allen Burger Venture, Coles, the Liberty Hound, Moor Pat and Thin Man Brewery.
