PUSH Buffalo is among more than 40 community, labor and environmental groups joining forces on New York Renews, a new campaign urging Albany to pass ambitious climate solutions in the coming new year.
PUSH Buffalo's Clarke Gocker says some communities will need government and private sector support transitioning to a clean energy economy.
"New York Renew, we believe, is a key driver to enable a community like the West Side or the East Side of Buffalo to acquire the resources and capacity to retrofit their homes with high-efficiency furnaces or to install community-owned solar gardens on vacant lots in their neighborhoods," Gocker said.
The group's agenda also includes calling on legislators to make the state's climate commitments legally enforceable while ensuring accountability.
