General Motors reaches tentative deal with United Auto Workers

WBFO News file photo

The United Auto Workers union has come to terms with General Motors on a tentative agreement for a new contract.

The UAW-GM proposal includes employees at the GM Plant in Tonawanda.

Few details are available, but the UAW has posted on its Facebook page that the union has secured significant gains and job security protections.

The UAW says local union leaders will meet in Detroit Wednesday to vote on the plan.  If it's approved, union members will then vote.

The UAW had set a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Sunday night to reach a new agreement or strike.
