A report from the New York Comptroller's office shows approval for nearly $9 billion in payments made in the month of February. Among those payments are lawsuit settlements in the sexual harassment cases against former Brooklyn Assemblyman Vito Lopez. Those settlements equal $545,000. Also paid out were more than $400,000 to a law firm for their work on the Moreland Commission.
The commission was established in 2013 to root out corruption in Albany, but it was closed nine months later by Governor Cuomo.
