Development mogul Frank L. Ciminelli has passed away at the age of 80, after a lengthy battle with ALS. Ciminelli was instrumental in the construction of commercial buildings, including the Walden Galleria and the Ford Motor Company's Woodlawn Stamping Plant. He was also connected to the expansion of local medical institutions, including the Roswell Park Cancer Center.
His son, Louis, tells WBFO that his father's history of building in Buffalo is not limited only to the structures around town...
"I'm hoping that the legacy of my father lives on through the companies that he started. He wasn't just a builder of buildings. He was a builder of companies. My company, LP Ciminelli, and my brother's company, Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation, are really the manifestation of my father's vision. Our job is to carry on."
Ciminelli retired from the companies in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosalie and their extended family. Funeral services for Mr. Ciminelli are still being planned.
