The annual YMCA Buffalo Niagara Turkey Trot will be dedicated to Race Director Tom Donnelly, who passed away this weekend.
"Tom was a wonderful man," says YMCA Spokesperson Kathy Romanowski.
"He was race director. This would be his 12th year with the YMCA Turkey Trot. He began in the race back in 1976 when his brother got him to start running. He was in the race for 25 years as a participant and then took over as race director."
Donnelly passed away at his home over the weekend at the age of 61.
Romanowski also notes the Turkey Trot is a sellout again this year, with 14,000 participants already registered. She says there is a new bus system and finish line this year to help ease congestion.
