Erie County Health Commissioner Dr. Gale Burstein has released a statement regarding Dr. Myron Glick and his possible exposure to the Ebola virus. Glick recently traveled to Sierra Leone, working to improve the health care environment there. Burstein states that Glick was not knowingly exposed to any patient infected with the Ebola virus, making his risk of developing Ebola Virus Disease extremely low. Burstein indicates that Glick will be closely monitored for the near future, but there is no established precedent for preventing him from resuming his local practice.

The Health Commissioner states that her organization is taking every precaution in protecting the local population from Ebola.
