The undefeated Buffalo Bills are a hit beyond this region, so says Matt Sabuda on today's "Beyond the Playbook" on WBFO. "Buffalo and the Bills have been one of the rarer, positive stories in the NFL amidst an avalanche of bad press that the league has seen in recent days."
The NFL's Finance Committee gave its approval to the sale of the Buffalo Bills to Terry and Kim Pegula earlier this. Sabuda says it's another positive to what is becoming the league's feel-good story.
Of course, for local fans, starting the season with two straight wins is the most endearing element of that story. That undefeated record will be challenged on Sunday when the Bills host the San Diego Chargers.
"The matchup there should be a very challenging one for the Bills defense," said Sabuda, noting how the Chargers' tight end, Antonio Gates, could cause problems. Gates scored three touchdowns in the Chargers surprising win over the Seattle Seahawks, the defending Super Bowl champion.
"I think the Bills defense is up to the task."
Though a win Sunday would put the Bills at 3-0, Sabuda points out the Bills have achieved that record twice in the last decade. The team failed to make the playoffs in either of those seasons.
