Buffalo Police and investigators from the SPCA joined forces Friday in multiple raids to break up a dogfighting ring.
After search warrants were signed, at least six arrests were made.
Twenty dogs were taken to the SPCA Serving Erie County for medical care and examinations and one dog was shot.
The raids were predominantly on the East Side and in the University District, although one raid took place on Grand Island. The SPCA Serving Erie County enlisted help from the national ASPCA for the raids.
Police referred to the operation as "the biggest dogfighting ring in Buffalo."
