Blowing, heavy snow fell across the area prior to Monday morning's commute, impacting the start of school for many Western New York districts. While the snow should cease for the most part, strong winds will present a new set of problems.
A Wind Chill Warning has been issued from 3 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday for the area.
"Even though we're still in the twenties for this morning, temperatures in the single digits are off to our west," National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Thomas told WBFO News around 5 a.m. "That's going to be coming across Lake Erie into Western New York this afternoon and bringing dangerously low wind chills for overnight."
"There is a little bit of a break coming up toward the end of the week," Thomas promised, predicting temperatures in the 20's and low 30's.
Overnight snow fall slowed the morning commute for drivers down to a crawl along major highways and area roadways. Snow covered, slick roads had drivers inching along on the 190, 290 and 400 as well as major thoroughfares into downtown Buffalo.
