The path to promotion for four Niagara Falls Police officers appears to have been cleared. The Appellate Division of State Supreme Court has upheld a State Supreme Court decision from 2012 that will elevate the officers to the rank of detective. The case involves four policemen who lobbied for the rank and pay of detectives as they were carrying out the extra duties on the job.
The city appealed the earlier decision to promote the officers, but it appears that the promotions will now be accepted.
