Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino opens tonight

Chris Caya/wbfo news

There will be fireworks over downtown Buffalo tonight as part of the grand opening of the new Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino.

The blue metal building that housed the temporary casino at Michigan Avenue and Perry Street is now gone.

Tonight, the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Seneca Gaming Corporation will officially unveil its much larger $130 million replacement.

The new Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino includes just over 800 slot machines, more than a dozen table games and a four-level parking ramp.

"In there you felt like you were always tripping on the same people. It was so small and congested that the games, the variety wasn't there, wasn't available to people. So here there's like a lot more things to choose from," said Southtowns resident April Stevens.

For her, the downtown casino is more convenient than driving to Niagara Falls.

"You don't have to waste all that gas money. And fight the bridge traffic and stuff. So it's nice."

The Seneca's newest gaming facility also has a sports bar, cafe and a grill that features popular local foods.
