Closure of local BernzOmatic plant to cost jobs
A shift in manufacturing will cost a local community significant job losses. The BernzOmatic plant in the Village of Medina has been targeted in a consolidation effort that will eliminate 174 jobs. Worthington Industries owns the plant and is moving its hand-held torch manufacturing to a site in Wisconsin. Closure of the local plant is expected to be complete in 2014.
The company is offering transfers and other employment services to its employees in an effort to ease the effect of the move.
