The City of Buffalo parks office is already preparing for the summer season, with construction projects in the works.

In many sections of the city's parks network, last year was a great year. That's especially true if it involved cold, chlorinated water on a hot day with pools opening early for kids and families to deal with the heat.   That's why the shopping list for contractors includes pool reconstruction and repairs.

Perhaps the most visible work will be in Marcy Casino in Delaware Park getting concrete work and an elevator.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown says his administration has spent big bucks on the parks.

"We have spent millions of dollars on park improvements, upgrades and repairs since 2006. We have some major park projects that will be be completed that will go forward this year that have been on the drawing board for a while," said Mayor Brown.

The mayor says the total since 2006 to the end of this year will be $30 million.
