The Seneca Niagara Casino is facing legal action by former employees over worker's compensation coverage. Employees injured on the job had been covered by standard insurance and by laws governed by the State Workers' Compensation Board. The Seneca's have since dropped that coverage and have established their own system, denying many employees the benefits they had previously been receiving. Lawyers for the eight litigants are attempting to restore standard compensation coverage, but the Senecas claim they are not beholden to the laws of the Workers' Compensation Board.
A hearing is set for later this month.
