City crews have been working around the clock to clear away more than a foot of snow from Buffalo streets after a winter storm dumped between 10 to 14 inches of snow. By mid-morning, Public Works Commissioner Steve Stepniak says approximately 70 percent of the snow was cleared from residential city streets. Stepniak says when the storm's punch eased around 2 a.m., crews managed to plow out the main and secondary roads.
"Mother Nature was very cooperative with us at 2 in the morning," Stepniak told WBFO News.
Stepniak says workers should have all city streets plowed by 6 p.m. Thursday.
The commissioner says residents have been cooperating with alternate parking rules. The Department of Public Works prepared for several days in anticipation of the storm.
