An elderly Amherst couple was killed in a tragic accident with a tractor trailer on Saturday.
Investigators claim that the truck crossed the center line along Transit Road in Clarence before striking a van operated by 75-year-old Howard Vahue and 68-year-old Barbara Vahue. The couple were pronounced dead at the scene. The impact forced the couple's vehicle into a utility pole and then on into the front of a local business.
Traffic along Transit was snarled for hours as the accident was addressed.
Investigators continue to comb through evidence, but alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the incident.
