A facial for the Ellicott Square Building

WBFO News by Mike Desmond

The landmark Ellicott Square Building is getting a facial to keep it attractive in Downtown's competitive real estate market.

Anyone walking or riding past the building can see the giant cherrypickers in use to take workers to windows high above or parked for another day.

Ellicott Development CEO William Paladino said a building as old as the 19th Century landmark needs watching and maintenance.

Right now, it's cleaning stone work and painting windows and monitoring the stone.

Paladino said it's good for business, with questions about what's going on.

"Both on the inside and on the exterior, it's different renovations that have been ongoing and we're excited about them and the people are excited about seeing the building exterior being renovated somewhat. and, definitely being checked for any potential damage, any repairs, any masonry repair.  Over time, things tend to come a little loose here and there and we're addressing all those concerns," said Paladino.

Paladino said his company has owned and maintained the structure for many years, giving workers some expertise on the kind of work which has to be done.
