Part of Transit Road in Lockport was closed around 8:30 a.m. Thursday due to a collision involving a school bus carrying 16 children.

The students, from kindergarten to 5th grade, were en route to the Fricano Primary School and the Douglas J. Regan Intermediate School when the crash occurred near near Fisk Road.

A Starpoint School District nurse checked out the students, who were shaken up but otherwise uninjured. Another bus was sent to finish the student transport and parents were informed of the incident.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital. Transit Road remained closed for about an hour.
