Former Saint Bonaventure President Dies

Saint Bonaventure University

Saint Bonaventure University has announced the death of its 15th president, Father Reginald Redlon.

Father Reginald, as he was known, died Wednesday (November 7, 2012) at Holy Name Friary in Ringwood, New Jersey at the age of 90. He served as Bona president from 1967 to 1972, a time of social and religious upheaval.

During his tenure, he oversaw the creation of the Faculty Senate, and increased the number of faculty members with terminal degrees. Father Reginald was also able to increase financial contributions to the University, supervised renovations to several campus buildings, and added laymen to the Board of Trustees for the first time in school history.

Funeral services will be held in New Jersey on Saturday.

Mark Wozniak, WBFO's local All Things Considered host, has been at WBFO since mid-1978.
