Police say a homeowner exchanged gunfire during a home invasion and one suspect was later found dead. Chief Frank Previte of Lewiston Police said the shootout happened early Sunday morning on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation in Niagara County.
The homeowner told police he exchanged gunfire with three armed people who entered his home, and they fled in a car. The vehicle was stopped after a high-speed chase with police.
Acting Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti said three suspects were taken into custody and a fourth was found dead in the car. The homeowner was treated for gunshot wounds.
Names have not been released.
