Man wanted in Cheektowaga murder found in Mexico

A man wanted in connection with the stabbing death of his wife in Cheektowaga has been captured in Mexico. Yuriy Bruks, 35, was wanted by Cheektowaga Police on second degree murder charges after his wife, Tetiana Bruks, 34, was found dead with multiple stab wounds on Aug. 4.

Yuriy Bruks was questioned by police and the house, at 81 Raymond St., was cordoned off as a crime scene.

Authorities say Yuriy Bruks returned the following day to pick up his passport and a laptop computer. There is also surveillance video of Bruks purchasing a cell phone at an area Walmart, and that phone issued an electronic ping near Laredo, TX on the U.S.-Mexican border on Aug. 7.

Bruks was found and taken into custody in Mexico on Saturday and is now in U.S. custody. He has been charged by federal authorities for fleeing from New York to avoid prosecution for second degree murder.
