Akron man sentenced to prison for DWI crash that injured 3

An Akron man has been sentenced to a year in prison for leaving the scene of a drunk driving crash that injured two children and an adult.

Matthew Jendresky, 40, was sentenced in State Supreme Court on a felony count of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated.

He caused a head-on collision Oct. 9, 2018 with his pickup truck and a Prius on Clarence Center Road at Cummings Road in Newstead.

After the collision, Jendresky backed up and tried to go around the Prius, but instead struck it in the rear. He drove a short distance farther, then ran into a wooded area where he was found by police about 90 minutes later.

An eight-year-old child properly restrained in the Prius suffered a large forehead cut that required stitches. A six-year-old passenger and the Prius driver did not suffer serious injuries.
