The bodies of a woman and her daughter, a Canisius College freshman were found shot to death in a southwest Rochester home Friday morning.

The victims are identified as Christie Brooks, and her 18 year old daughter Victoria Brooks. They were discovered by family members, who called Rochester police shortly after 7 a.m. Friday.

Investigators are treating it as a homicide.

Victoria Brooks was a freshman at Canisius College in Buffalo. School officials expressed their condolences in a release, and say grief counseling will be made available to all members of the Canisius College community this coming week.

The following is the full statement issued by Canisius College:

"The Canisius College community is profoundly saddened by the deaths of freshman student Victoria Brooks and her mother, Christie Brooks.  We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to their surviving family members and friends.

Grief counseling will be made available to all members of the Canisius College community this coming week."
