East Aurora teen facing manslaughter of his friend

Erie County Sheriff's Office

An East Aurora teen is facing manslaughter, after what authorities say was an accidental shooting that left his friend dead.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate what happened Sunday around 8:40 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to a home on Dorris Drive in Elma to find a 19-year-old shot in the stomach. He was transported to Erie County Medical Center, where he later died.

A friend of the teen, 19-year-old Jake Klocek, is charged with felony counts of second-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The Sheriff says it appears Klocek was showing the legal handgun to his friend, but due to his "reckless conduct" the gun went off.

Klocek was arraigned Monday afternoon and released from the Erie County Holding Center after posting $50,000 bail.
