The Erie County Sheriff's Office warned it has responded to nearly 20 larceny calls over the past few days in the towns of Boston, Concord, Elma and Grand Island.
Sheriff Tim Howard said thieves are breaking into vehicles and stealing anything they can grab.
The thieves struck during the overnight hours and during the day, stealing purses, change, mail, credit and debit cards, checkbooks, driver’s licenses and other personal and valuable items by breaking windows or entering through unlocked doors.
Howard urged residents not to leave anything in their cars and reminded drivers to lock their vehicle as an extra measure of security, even if it is in a garage.
