New information into last week's murder of a 13-year-old Iraqi refugee was revealed Friday afternoon during a felony hearing for his accused killer. The victim, Ameer Al Shammari, was strangled.  The case against Jean Sanchez, also 13, is going to a grand jury.  He's being prosecuted as an adult.  At the hearing, a homicide detective testified Sanchez used a shoe lace and then a hoodie draw string to strangle the victim.

But defense attorney Paul Dell argued a scared 13-year-old in a room with police will say anything.

Investigators believe Al Shammari was trying to retrieve his cell phone after it had been taken from him.

His body was found last Saturday in a vacant lot on Amherst Street in Black Rock.
