On the heels of New York State passing the toughest gun control legislation in the nation, a new report shows the number of firearm related offenses is up in the City of Buffalo. According to the "Monthly Crime, Arrest and Firearm Activity Report" released by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, firearm related violent offenses in Buffalo were up 8.9 percent for the first 11 months of 2012 over the previous year.
The number of murders committed with guns increased 42 percent to 37.
Statistics in the report from the Buffalo Police Department also show there were 253 shooting victims during the first 11 months of 2012, up 9 percent over the same period in 2011.
